BEFORE YOUR SHOOT
We want to make the most of your Lone Star Pin-Up experience and have put together some useful information to help you prepare for your shoot.
Advice From Our Hair and Makeup Artist
Some Things To Think About Before Your Shoot
If you can, do some research in to what kind of looks you like. It doesn’t have to be exact, just things that you think are beautiful or inspiring. I have extensive experience with styling hair and makeup and will find the best look and style for your particular hair and face with or without reference material. Sometimes it’s best to trust the artist to do their job. Remember that it is not always possible to replicate something exactly. It depends on the texture, length and fullness of your hair to determine what kind of hairstyle is possible. Special effects or extreme makeup looks may also need additional consolation prior to your shoot. It is possible to add extensions and do other things to achieve something not normally available to us with advance notice and a reasonable additional fee for materials and/or services. Feel free to contact us with any special requests or ideas.
Some Things To Do Before Your Shoot
Most hair works best for styling if it has not been washed for at least a day or two. Very clean hair is much harder to work with. DO NOT wear any heavy styling products on the day of your shoot (hair gel, baby oil, a lot of hair spray, etc). If you have extremely curly hair that needs special products to straighten it, please come with your hair already straightened. Come without makeup and clean skin. Also try to have your eyebrows groomed before the shoot. If possible get a good night's rest the night before to reduce puffiness and dark circles. And eat a healthy meal. It takes a lot of energy to look pretty! If you have sensitivities to certain kinds of makeup, please feel free to bring your own. It is also a good idea to bring your own foundation and mascara just in case.
During The Shoot
Please try to refrain from constantly looking in the mirror and excessively touching your hair and makeup. Styling is a process and it may look a little strange or unbecoming before we get to the final product. Please remember that photo makeup and day-to-day makeup are very different It may seem unnatural or too heavy for everyday wear, but on camera it will look normal. Normal day-to-day makeup will not read on camera. Be prepared to be physically active. The best poses are almost always uncomfortable! A good rule of thumb is the more uncomfortable and awkward the pose, the better the picture.
Please remember the most important thing for us is that you feel beautiful and are happy with the results. It is always easier for me to do my work with someone who can put their trust in me and relax and enjoy the experience. The best thing about hair and makeup is that it isn’t permanent. If you don’t like something, we can always change it. However, if you don’t try it we’ll never know what it could have looked like!
